About the clinic
The past and the future
In April 2004, AAGAARD Gynækologi & Fertilitet took over a specialist
gynaecology practice. The primary objective was to continue its function
as a specialist referral clinic for family doctors. Gradually, alongside
treating gynaecological patients, we expanded into offering fertility treatment
for private as well as referred patients.
In 2008, a total of 2,670 patients were referred to us from family doctors
in the region.
The clinic also treated patients referred from public hospital waiting
lists and patients with private health insurance.
A total of 700 children are the proud results of the clinic’s fertility
treatment so far. In 2008 the clinic’s IVF treatment had a pregnancy rate
of 33%, and for insemination the pregnancy rate was 18%.
AAGAARD Gynækologi & Fertilitet has state-of-the-art equipment and
treatment facilities, and we use only the methods proven to give the highest
success rates. Our clinic has been approved as a tissue bank for insemination
and IVF treatment purposes by the Danish Medicines Agency.
Staff
Jørn Aagaard trained as a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology at
the Danish hospitals of Randers and Aarhus, and supplemented his training
abroad for 4 years, working at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA
and at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds, UK.
While working as a senior consultant at the hospital in Randers, Jørn
Aagaard specialised in laparoscopy for gynaecological diagnosis and surgery
(keyhole procedures). Before setting up his own clinic, Jørn Aagaard worked
at a private fertility clinic, performing fertility treatment as well as
gynaecological surgery.
Jørn Aagaard is the senior specialist and managing director of AAGAARD
Gynækologi & Fertilitet. In addition, the clinic has 7 permanent members
of staff, and 5 associated specialist consultants from the nearby Skejby
Hospital.
The future
2008 was a year in which AAGAARD Gynækologi & Fertilitet was able
to deliver even better results for our patients than we did in 2007.
In 2009 we are going to establish a new clinic in Skejby. We are expanding,
adding operating theatres as well as a bed unit, to enable us to offer
our patients more efficient and comprehensive treatments in a clinic designed
specifically to improve accessibility and security for our patients and
produce the most effective results.
Once the clinic is fully operational, we will be able to perform 5,000
examinations, 150 in-patient operations and 800 out-patient operations
a year. We look forward to moving to the new clinic because we will be
able to offer our patients an even more accessible and secure environment
in which to achieve optimal results for gynaecology as well as fertility
patients.
