Ultrasound examination

This type of scan gives us images that are very helpful in a number of examinations:

Infertility
Infertility can be caused by a number of factors. A scan can help us diagnose disturbances like:

• Fibroids in the uterus
• Polyps in the uterus (cervix or uterus)
  
• Blocked fallopian tubes, or reduced passage through the tubes (HSU).
  

Bleeding disturbances
Your periods can be irregular for a number of reasons. Often a scan will be able to diagnose the cause, e.g.:

• Fibroids in the uterus
• Polyps in the uterus.
