Hysteroscopy is a keyhole examination of the womb.
This examination will be performed if we suspect that there’s a polyp, a fibroid or excess growth of the lining of the womb. The examination takes 10-15 minutes, and you’ll have local anaesthesia. It's performed by inserting a thin telescope (a hysteroscope) through the vagina and cervix. After the examination you may experience a bit of discomfort, like period pains. You can also expect light bleeding for a day or two after the examination.
