Semen analysis

We make the semen analysis at the clinic. The sperm sample can be made at home or at the clinic. If it’s to be made at home, the man will get a sample glass with his name and CPR number, and hand it in at the clinic, usually in the morning. The sample must not be more than 1 hour old, and it must be kept at body temperature during transport. Then we analyse it in our lab and the answer will be ready by the end of the day. Reduced sperm count can be caused by illness, stress or other factors. That’s why we often need to do more than one analysis, to be able to determine the sperm quality with certainty. We also perform an ultrasound scan of the man’s testicles. These analyses and examinations are free of charge, provided the man has been referred by his family doctor.
